BCH appoints new CEO
The Board of Bellarine Community Health is pleased to announce the appointment of Shane Dawson to the position of Chief Executive Officer.
Shane is an experienced CEO with over 20 year’s experience in the health and community sectors, particularly primary health care including Divisions of General Practice and Medicare Locals.
“Shane brings to Bellarine Community Health diverse skills, strong connections and experience as a strategic leader in the health sector,” said Board Chair Hazel Ingram.
“His career has been across a diverse range of health activities within the hospital, primary care, organisational redevelopment and disability sectors,” Ms Ingram said.
Shane has most recently been working at a consultancy level in Queensland with several disability agencies in the NDIS rollout, working with boards and agencies in governance, leadership and management, combined with the implementation of clinical governance frameworks.
He holds a Masters in Business Management and has extensive experience and understanding of health service integration and health service delivery, particularly in securing quality outcomes for communities.
“I am really looking forward to joining Bellarine Community Health and getting to know staff and the broader community on the Bellarine,” Shane said. “Working in community health and for a community based organisation is a passion of mine.”
The Board is confident Shane is well positioned to lead Bellarine Community Health and navigate the current challenging reforms in the health sector along with enhancing the organisations position as the largest provider of primary health care services on the Bellarine.
Shane Dawson takes will commence as CEO with Bellarine Community Health at the end of July, following the retirement of long serving CEO John Fendyk.
