Bellarine Community Health is urging communities on the Bellarine to keep general health and wellbeing front of mind during COVID-19.

There is growing concern amongst health professionals that people are neglecting existing chronic health conditions because of fears related to the pandemic.

While minimising the risk of COVID-19 is vitally important, we also need to make sure that you are looking after the rest of your health.

If you have an existing, chronic health condition or regular appointments scheduled with your General Practitioner or health professional, you should try to keep the appointment.

If you don't want to attend in person, then see whether the appointment can be carried out via telehealth.

Equally as important, if you have a new health issue arise, don’t delay seeking help from a health professional.

By ensuring issues are managed swiftly you can prevent health concerns becoming more serious.

BCH is also encouraging people to get a flu vaccination. It will not protect you against COVID-19, but a vaccination will assist in preventing flu symptoms and help minimise any further strain on the health system.

Whether in person, or via telehealth, it’s critical that you continue to manage your general health during COVID-19 and continue to talk to your General Practitioner or relevant Health Professional.

Bellarine Community Health (BCH) is committed to continuing to care for community members during the COVID-19 pandemic.

While several of our services are now occurring via telehealth, face to face urgent or emergency treatment can be provided at some sites.
