Active Women and Girls

While many of us know that exercising is vital for good physical and mental health, that doesn’t change the fact that many women and girls aren’t getting enough exercise.

Why? Women and girls have told us that a big part of not trying new activities or getting involved in sport or physical activity is a fear of being judged, not being fit enough to start, or the environments are not welcoming.

As part of our work to promote physical activity opportunities for women and girls, we are working with sporting and leisure clubs and settings across the Bellarine to create welcoming environments where women and girls of all ages and abilities feel comfortable to participate.

This Girl Can

In 2021, Bellarine Community Health has been a supporter of the range of activities during ‘This Girl Can’ campaign, an initiative by Vic Health, which encourages women and girls to participate in physical activities regardless of age or ability. Together with our partners, we designed a suite of ‘Come and Try’ sessions across the Bellarine.

Thank you to our following partners for supporting This Girl Can week:
