Services For Young People

Bellarine Community Health offers a professional suite of confidential and friendly health services especially for young people aged 12-25. Centrally located close to Drysdale's Secondary Colleges, we offer dedicated youth health and support services in one convenient place. You can find us on Peninsula Drive, behind Bus Stop No 5.

Most services provided by our Youth Team are FREE for young people aged 12-25 years. Some additional charges for medications may apply and to public dental program for young people over 17 years old.

Our Youth Nurses understand the problems and pressures faced by young people and can support you with:

  • Concerns around sexual health and puberty
  • Sexually transmitted infection testing and advice
  • Drug and alcohol issues
  • Problems at home, school, university or work
  • Feeling overwhelmed or down
  • Safe partying
  • Same sex attractiveness

Youth Dental Program

Youth Dental Program

FREE dental services at our Point Lonsdale Health Centre is available to all young people between the ages of 13 and 17 who hold or are dependents of health care or pensioner concession card holders. Those without concession cards may still be eligible for treatment through the Child Dental Benefits Schedule. Alternatively all young people are welcome to seek services through Bellarine Community Health Private Dental Care where private fees will apply.

BCH Dental Health Services include:

  • Checkups, cleaning and extractions
  • Fillings and fissure sealants
  • Radiographs
  • Fitting of mouth guards and splints
  • Professional and dietary advice
  • Referrals to Royal Melbourne Dental Hospital

Youth & Family Counselling

Our Counsellors understand the issues faced by young people and can offer support in a confidential and non-judgemental way. They work with young people, their families or their parents and can assist with:

  • Feeling down or depressed
  • School and exam pressures
  • Family and relationship problems
  • Bullying
  • Anxiety
  • Poor self-esteem
  • Eating disorders
  • Specialised alcohol and other drug (AOD) counselling to support young people

Youth GP Services

Youth GP Services

Young people can access qualified general practice doctors providing free, confidential and professional medical care at our Drysdale Youth site.

You can see our doctors for a broad range of health concerns including general health, sexual health or if you are feeling anxious or depressed. Our experienced and non-judgemental doctors will listen to your concerns and support you to take care of your health.


Youth Occupational Therapy

Youth Occupational Therapy

Our Occupational Therapists can work with you to help you to be able to do the activities you want or need to do at home, school or work such as:

  • Managing stress, coping skills, keeping well
  • Accessing sporting, social and recreational opportunities
  • Driving or using Public Transport
  • School – social issues, study skills
  • Work skills – applications, finding and keeping employment
  • Home environment, cooking skills, budgeting, paying bills
  • Concentration, attention, problem solving at school

Youth Nutrition & Dietetics

Our Nutritionists and Dietitians can support young people to grow and maintain good health by providing dietary advice relating to:

  • Vegetarian diets
  • Sport
  • Underweight/overweight
  • Disordered eating
  • Food and mood
  • Vitamin/mineral deficiencies ie iron
  • Adequate nutrition to perform well at school
  • Treatment of diet related diseases such as constipation, diabetes, coeliac disorders, irritable bowel syndrome

Our Physiotherapists can provide advice and treatment for muscle, joint and movement problems such as:

  • Back pain, neck pain and poor posture

Our Podiatrists can provide foot care advice and treatment for problems such as:

  • Sporting injuries
  • Footwear advice
  • Skin or nail issues (i.e. warts, tinea, callous)
  • Ingrown toe-nails
  • Foot infections
  • Orthotics
